JLA – New speakers update – Summer 2017

Here are some of the speakers new to JLA:

Richard Browning

A BP oil trader by day, real life ‘Iron Man’ on other occasions. Footage of Richard in his flying suit has become a global phenomenon. He uses this as a practical example of what innovation looks like, how great achievements require risk, and how large companies can emulate innovative startups.

Sir Ivan Rogers

Former UK Permanent Representative to the EU, Ivan offers an insight into the Union and Brexit few others can match. As a former G8 and G20 negotiator he also considers how international deals are done and the prospects for British deals around the world.

Yancey Strickler

CEO and co-founder of Kickstarter, Yancey has been a part of one of the most disruptive businesses around, fundamentally changing both how funds and investment is raised, as well as how everything from games consoles to films are made. Kickstarter is also a Public Benefit Company, committing the business to social good as much as profit.

Jonathan Shaw

Former Army officer, Jonathan served in the Parachute Regiment operating in Kosovo and Iraq before moving to Whitehall with the MoD. He served as Chief of Staff of UK Land Forces, and was responsible for operational planning, disaster relief, and counter terrorism. He was also the first Army officer responsible for UK cybersecurity.

Tony Scott

Former US Federal CIO, Tony is one of the longest serving government technology experts in America. As well as public service he’s worked for Disney, GM and Microsoft. A cloud and cybersecurity pioneer, he was appointed by Barak Obama to take charge of the Cybersecurity National Action Plan and lead preventative and emergency planning in this vital and rapidly changing area.

Matthew Luhn

Former Original Story Creator at Pixar, Matthew was involved in modern classics including Toy Story 2 and 3, Finding Nemo, and Up. He was also the youngest animator at the time on The Simpsons. Matthew considers the power of stories to emotionally engage, regardless of the medium or the audience. He asks organisations to understand their story and analyse how it can revolutionise their business.

Yuval Noah Harari

Acclaimed author of Sapiens and Homo Deus, Yuval’s global bestsellers have been cited by the likes of Bill Gates and Barak Obama. The Israeli history professor examines the past, present and future of humanity and what society and individuals can learn from understanding our place in the world and the fictions we’ve created.

Julian Fisher

Former MI6 officer, Julian also appeared in Channel 4’s Spies. One of the few former operatives to be known to the public, he looks at business lessons from the world of espionage. Responsible for recruiting assets who were being asked to betray their country or their cause at great personal risk, he examines what motivates people. He also looks at broader questions of security, privacy and geopolitics.

Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea and England captain, Frank was not just noted as dedicated, professional and talented midfielder, he’s also known as one of the most intelligent players the game has produced in recent times. With insights in teamwork, leadership and developing a winning culture, Frank considers both the ups and downs of his career.
