Both glamorous and edgy, Escala emerged from Britain’s Got Talent as the UK's most recognisable contemporary string quartet. Performing either an electric or acoustic set, they play a mix of classical and pop tunes from Handel to Wings, as on their Trevor Horn-produced album.
Fusing contemporary sounds with classical instruments, electric string quartet Escala caused a sensation in the final of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent 2008. Their subsequent debut album, Escala, was one of the fastest selling, first week release of any debut artist that year.
Classically trained, the four members became close friends after touring as part of a large string section with boy-band McFly. After Britain’s Got Talent, they were signed to Simon Cowell’s label and have performed all over the world, including appearances on Oprah and The Today Show in the US, and Children in Need.
The girls have led BSkyB’s TV campaign for the Premier League season, and are the face of hosiery brand Pretty Polly.
