Biography

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is a queen of disco and pop, with many of her songs remaining dancefloor classics.

After starting out as the teenage frontwoman in the sharply dressed indie-pop group theaudience, Sophie’s fame grew when she lent her vocals to Italian DJ Spiller’s chart-topping hit Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love). Following this collaboration, she released her debut solo album Read My Lips which featured four top 20 hits: Take Me Home, Get Over You / Move This Mountain, Music Gets the Best of Me and, her biggest single, Murder on the Dancefloor. She went on to release five further studio albums and collaborated with DJ’s across Europe.

Throughout the Covid-19 lockdown, she kept the nation dancing by performing weekly ‘Kitchin Disco’ concerts live from her kitchen with her family. These feel-good performances created virtual escapism for many and led to an album of Songs from the Kitchen, an eagerly awaited tour and a slot of Radio 2 to continue to bring dance-along tunes to the nation.

Live, Sophie performs her chart-topping hits and favourite disco covers with her trademark upbeat energy that is bound to get any audience on their feet dancing. She can also bring her Kitchen Disco to you virtually or DJ alongside her husband, Rich Jones from The Feeling.
