Biography

Journalist and broadcaster Emily Maitlis presents the Gold Award winning daily podcast, The News Agents with Global Media with Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall and The News Agents USA with Jon Sopel. She has covered elections in the US and UK for the BBC, fronted Newsnight, and was recognised by GQ Magazine as one of the most influential people in Britain.

Emily has interviewed Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, as well the last six UK Prime Ministers, and numerous other political leaders. In a groundbreaking interview that made headlines worldwide, Emily sat down with Prince Andrew, when, for the first time, he publicly discussed his links to Jeffrey Epstein. She co-exec produced the Channel 4 documentary, Andrew: The Problem Prince, which examined his decision to be interviewed and the aftermath.

After leaving the BBC and signing with Global, Emily launched The News Agents, which went to the top of the podcast charts and won Gold at the British Podcast Awards. It provides a deep dive into the news of the day with expert opinion. Following its success Emily also hosts, with Jon Sopel, The News Agents USA.

Emily delivered the flagship address of the 2022 Edinburgh TV Festival – The James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture. Her lecture considered the complex world of modern journalism exploring the threat to reporting the news and holding power to account across the globe.

She is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller, Airhead: An Exploration of the Imperfect Art of Making News, and has written for The Sunday Times and the Spectator, The Guardian, Evening Standard and the New Statesman.
