Vanessa is a Journalist and Presenter at Sky News. She has previously worked at BBC News and ITV News. She also hosts and moderates International Women’s Day for all of Sky’s platforms.


Biography

Vanessa Baffoe is a Presenter at Sky News. She has presented across all the channel’s programmes and platforms throughout the day, and hosts Sky’s Daily Podcast. Vanessa is an experienced journalist who started her career in newspapers as a Business Reporter before making the move into television and radio. 

Vanessa’s has been at the forefront of some of the biggest news stories, including coverage of the pandemic, which saw her working throughout all phases of the lockdown, the war in Ukraine, the US elections and breaking the news of the conflict in Sudan. She is a quick-thinker and able to make split-second decisions, essential qualities for her role as a News Presenter operating in a live environment, handling breaking news and covering a wide range of topics, from politics to business, sports, and entertainment.

Before joining Sky News, Vanessa worked as a Presenter and Reporter for BBC News, covering the East of England and London, as well as filing investigative reports for BBC Breakfast, BBC News Channel, BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live.

Vanessa’s early broadcasting career started at ITV News, working at ITV News Anglia in the East of England and ITV Tyne Tees in the North of England, where she worked as a Producer, and a Reporter. She was one of the key members of the Presenting and Journalism team to launch London Live television. In print media, Vanessa has published articles, including exclusives, in the Evening Standard and The Independent.

As well as presenting in the studio and on location, Vanessa also hosts and moderates events including International Women’s Day for all of Sky’s platforms and hosting and moderating the annual Diversity in Journalism report commissioned by the National Council for the Training of Journalists, looking at the characteristics of journalists and newsrooms across the UK.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
