On TV Charlie has covered the historic past of Britain’s notable buildings, the dynamic modernism of the world’s skyscrapers, and the future of sustainability. As a designer he’s passionate about sustainable architecture and a responsible built environment.


Biography

Charlie Luxton is an architectural designer who combines his design work with writing and presenting television programmes. He is passionate about the environment and communicating his enthusiasm for sustainable architecture and eco-friendly design.

From looking at unique seaside properties in Homes By The Sea to helping people design and build their dream homes in Building The Dream, Charlie has covered the best in architecture and sustainability. He’s looked at the stories behind historic buildings in Brick by Brick: Rebuilding Our Past, and the power and politics of the world’s iconic skyscrapers in Vertical City.

As a designer Charlie’s worked on houses and projects all over the country including on London’s Olympic Park and a self-build scheme in Buckinghamshire. He extended the conversion of his own home into an exemplar of sustainability by getting his whole village to follow suit in order to win the Government's Low Carbon Community Challenge grant using everything from solar panels to shared Smart cars.

Other TV series Charlie has presented include Channel 4's London's Great Bridges: Lighting the Thames, I Own Britain’s Best House, Behind Closed Doors, The Great Treehouse Challenge, and Restored to Glory. Before broadcasting Charlie worked in design and communications, getting the message of sustainability out in to mainstream media with events and campaigns. He also lectures to professional and lay audiences on sustainable architecture and the built environment

Navigating Risk and Chaos – Strategies For Coping With An Uncertain World.

On Tuesday 17th September we had the pleasure of hearing from a remarkable panel of speakers, who shared their expertise on the challenges of managing Risk in a chaotic world.

The panel featured esteemed speakers, Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton KFSM (Firefigter and Neuroscience researcher), Lord Parker of Minsmere (Andrew Parker, Former Director General of MI5), and Sir Robin Niblett (Former Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House). The event was hosted superbly by Mastermind and BBC News presenter Clive Myrie.

Over the hour, our panellists explored Risk on multiple levels, from global affairs to business environments and personal everyday challenges. They provided valuable insights into how we can better manage and mitigate Risk in today’s unpredictable world.
