Axel has built his reputation as one of the UK’s leading entertainers. Known for his energetic, animated, and confident character, his comedy comes with a sharp and truthful insight that only a comedian can get away with. A former winner of Britain’s Got Talent, Axel’s truthful and observational style of comedy highlights his experience on the scene.

Biography

Comedian Axel Blake has built his reputation playing the London comedy circuit as well as engaging fans on social media with his stories, shenanigans, and sketches, and was the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2022.

Despite building a loyal following allowing him to sell out a self-produced headline show at Indigo at The O2 he did not receive mainstream success until auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent, which saw him receive Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer. His charismatic and captivating comedy won the hearts and laughs of the audience propelling him all the way to the finals and then on to win the coveted competition and a spot at The Royal Variety Show.

Axel’s first step was comedy school. He joined a course that taught him the basics of comedy, and after completing the course began testing out his skills at open-mic nights and small variety shows which featured a mix of comics, musicians, and poets. It was at these events where he first rubbed shoulders with other budding entertainers such as Mo Gilligan, Paul Chowdhry, and Ed Sheeran.

When Axel began sharing his life and comedy on social media, he started to build a real fanbase. An early adopter of Snapchat, he built a loyal base of followers who engaged with online sketches, and mini shows such as Dear Dr. Axel.

Having cultivated a fanbase he started his own live events. These monthly shows which fused comedy, music and gameshows provided a platform for other entertainers whilst giving Axel an opportunity to hone his skills as a host as well as a stand-up comic. His hosting and presenting skills were further used during his time on the radio. He hosted the breakfast show on The Beat London and has presented and featured in shows on Capital Xtra and BBC Networks. These presenting skills were adapted even more when he began presenting online series for the likes of UNILAD and SBTV. He also supported US comedians Eddie Griffin and Dave Chappelle.

Since winning BGT, Axel has toured the UK with countless sold-out dates across his In Style tour, most notably selling out Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo. He has also featured on The Stand Up Sketch Show, Don’t Hate The Playaz, and Comedy Central Live.

At its essence, Axel’s comedy is a truthful and observational style of stand-up built from personal encounters and years of experience on the scene.
