As fitness advisor to the British Lions, Premiership football teams and world champions Steve believes that if you can’t be passionate about something, you can’t be good at it. He sets out the environment in which teams can flourish: re-inforce everyone’s role, underline the positive and avoid stress.
Steve Black is widely acknowledged as one of Britain's most successful fitness conditioning coaches. He has held appointments with Newcastle United FC, Newcastle Falcons, the British Lions and Huddersfield Town.
Originally a boxer, Steve then graduated in Sports Science. He soon began to explore the realms of strength, entering competitions around the globe, and in one contest beating Lou Forino - better known as the original Incredible Hulk.
Steve was first invited to run fitness programmes during Kevin Keegan’s first spell in charge at St James’ Park, when they climbed back into the Premiership. He’s since coached several teams and individuals across numerous sports, including England rugby great Jonny Wilkinson and Olympian Jonathan Edwards. He also coached at Sunderland FC, Fulham FC, and with the Welsh national rugby team.
Acknowledged throughout sport as one of the most effective and innovative coaches, Steve not only improved fitness and recovery, but also team and individual performance. His work touches on all aspects from physical health to psychology and mindset. He’s also applied his experience, insight and techniques to the business world, helping to lead, deal with change and motivate companies from banking to the civil service.
