Biography

Regarded as one of the best international coaches in the women's game, Sarina Wiegman made English football history, after becoming the first coach to lead the Lionesses to a major title when England won UEFA EURO 2022. As well as being historic for the Lionesses, it was also for Sarina as she became the first coach to win back-to-back tournaments having led her home country the Netherlands to the EURO 2017 title five years earlier.

As a player Sarina became the first Dutch female centurion, when she reached 100 caps for the Netherlands. After retiring and moving into coaching, she was appointed head coach of the Dutch national team and was named Best FIFA Women’s Coach before guiding them to the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.

During her managerial career, Sarina has been awarded World Best Women's National Coach by IFFHS and named Coach of the Year at the BBC Sports Personality Awards. She was made an Honorary CBE in the New Year’s Honours list for services to association football.

In her memoir What It Takes, Sarina shares her vision for a transformative and inclusive future for football and gives an insight into her life and career.
