Biography

Matt is an award-winning Times journalist, writer, and broadcaster. He presents daily on Times Radio, hosts the popular Red Box political podcast, and has taken his wry look at politics to the stage in his show This. Is. Not. Normal.

After covering politics for the Western Morning News and the Press Association, Matt moved to become a political correspondent for The Independent and later political editor at MailOnline. He was recruited to The Times to take charge of the Red Box podcast and newsletter.

The award-winning podcast takes listeners inside the corridors of power to reveal the stories, personalities, and manoeuvrings in Westminster with interviews, analysis of the big stories, and unusual examinations of subjects from ethics to the role of food in politics to exactly what a Prime Minister does all day.

He is also a comedian, and after a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe with the sketch group Big Day Out, he took a small break of fourteen years before his debut stand-up This. Is. Not. Normal. His second show, Who Is In Charge Here?,  dealt with a war and the collapse of the government.
