Linda worked on developing the early BBC websites before launching E4 and Channel 4’s digital offerings and then becoming European IT Director for Discovery Networks. As well as looking at key changes in digital world she considers the challenges keeping up with consumers’ and employee’s expectations, and the ROI of investing in technology.
Linda Davidson has worked with entertainment and media brands, taking them into the digital age, leading transformation and ensuring they meet ever shifting expectations. She worked on the launch on BBC Online before working with Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel.
An actor who also wrote for the BBC’s Tomorrow’s World, Linda saw the potential for technology to tell stories in new ways and dedicated her time to the intersection of television and the internet. When the BBC launched its pioneering site, Linda led development of its Drama and Entertainment channels. Moving to Channel 4 she also launched E4. She also led digital distribution deals and created T4 and 4Music for the broadcaster, before broadening her base at Discovery Communications, where she was Director of Technology, Strategy and Operations.
As Director of Operations at social media agency FourEngage, Linda helped companies to deliver ROI from their online platforms. She returned to Channel 4 as General Manager of their advertising technology Platform, and has lectured at Ravensbourne University London. She is now Acting Director of Digital, Technology & Information for the Jamie Oliver Group.
In speeches Linda looks at what digital can do for any organisation, the online future and key trends. She considers how to develop a coherent, robust and global digital strategy, as well as how to distinguish yourself from competitors in the crowded digital space. An ex-care leaver herself, Linda is also passionate about training and apprenticeships for disadvantaged groups and for broadening access to working in tech.
