Sue has glided from writing French & Saunders skits to conducting orchestras, getting the nation baking and exploring the Mekong river. After dinner Sue serves up a melange of historical, comical and culinary tales.

Sue Perkins is a comedian, actor, writer and presenter. As one half of comedy duo Mel & Sue, she helped take The Great British Bake Off to new heights of popularity, as well as reinvigorating daytime chat shows. Sue’s also fronted programmes covering everything from brass bands to art to animals.

Starting out as student performers, Mel & Sue took to the live circuit before writing for French & Saunders and then presenting both Light and Late Lunches on Channel 4. Solo, Sue has appeared on numerous panel shows, on both television and radio from The News Quiz to QI, Just a Minute to Would I Lie To You. In partnership with food critic Giles Coren she’s explored unusual diets through the ages in The Supersizers Eat..., lived The Good Life, and considered the history of royal weddings.

Sue discovered another talent when she won the BBC’s conducting competition, Maestro, going on to lead the orchestra at Proms in the Park. As a presenter Sue’s the host of BBC2’s Insert Name Here, Channel 4’s The Big Spell, and Sky’s post-Game of Throne show Thronecast. She’s also looked at art, the Ganges, The Sound of Music, and books, but has continued to return to food. As well as Channel 4’s The Big Food Fight, Sue has competed on MasterChef, grilled top chefs in Cooks’ Questions, and, of course, co-hosted the phenomenon that is The Great British Bake Off.
