The Radio 4 medical man and former presenter of Watchdog Healthcheck still runs his Cotswolds surgery.
Mark Porter is the medical correspondent for The Times and one of the main health experts on the BBC. He has played a key role shows including flagship BBC health programme Watchdog Healthcheck and the Fighting Fat, Fighting Fit book, video and TV campaign.
Mark presents Case Notes on Radio 4 and fronts Five's daily live phone-in surgery and advice show, Doctor Doctor. He was also the resident doctor on Jeremy Vine’s Radio 2 show. Mark writes columns for the London Evening Standard, Closer and Sainsbury’s Magazine and was Health Editor at Radio Times for 10 years.
Despite these varied commitments Mark still works at his busy NHS practice in Stroud and enjoys hosting and lecturing at medical conferences. Mark qualified from Westminster Hospital Medical School, London and spent five years in a variety of hospital specialities before entering General Practice.
Mark was awarded an MBE for his services to healthcare.
