Controversial, provocative, comedic, infuriating but never dull, Jeremy Clarkson is one of the UK’s best-known broadcasters and writers. Establishing his willingness never to bow to convention or political correctness on Top Gear, he and his colleagues May and Hammond now travel the world by various unconventional motoring means in The Grand Tour.
Jeremy Clarkson is arguably one of the nation’s best-known broadcasters, loved and loathed in equal measure, he may frequently be controversial and politically incorrect, parodied as often as he is mocking, but he’s rarely dull.
Originally trained as a journalist, Jeremy coupled his writing skills with an interest in cars and formed the Motoring Press Agency. He took on a co-hosting role on Top Gear when it was a convention car review and motoring programme, but he became part of a team that completely reinvented the show. In partnership with Richard Hammond and James May, as well as producer Andy Wilman, they went on to create a global television phenomenon. After more than a decade on the show they took one of the most popular elements, their overseas trips, usually by unconventional motoring means, to Amazon Prime and launch The Grand Tour.
Away from Top Gear and The Grand Tour, Jeremy has also fronted Star Cars, Motorworld, and Extreme Machines, which took him out of automobiles and into some seriously big toys. He’s hosted his own chat show, guest presented Have I Got News For You numerous times (and been a target for Hislop and Merton on every occasion), championed Brunel in the quest to identify the Greatest Britons, and recounted stories of incredible bravery in a history of the Victoria Cross, For Valour.
Away from the cameras Jeremy has maintained his writing as a regular motoring columnist at The Sunday Times and The Sun. He’s written a host of books, usually based around a desire to kick against prevailing fashions and conventional wisdom, as well as cars, including over six volumes in his The World According to Clarkson series.
