Andrew Bird

Fee Band

Once making the regulars laugh from behind his bar, Andrew moved into stand up and has and has performed around the world from Dublin to Doha, and supported Russell Howard and Michael McIntyre on tour. With a laid-back, conversational style he’s been described by Rhod Gilbert as ‘effortlessly engaging and funny as hell.’

Biography

Having taken the road to comedy after working in a bar and making the regulars laugh, Andrew Bird went from bar work in the small Northamptonshire town of Towcester to the heady glamour of a talent night at Northampton College. This was the first step in a successful live comedy career.

Andrew has appeared on The Russell Howard Hour and supported him on tour. He’s also supported Rhod Gilbert, Rob Brydon, and US comedians Brian Regan and Michelle Wolfe on their only London shows. He supported Michael McIntyre on his UK-wide tour, which included performances at the O2 arena and a packed Wembley stadium.

He has written for Jon Richardson’s Ultimate Worrier, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Room 101, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Jason Manford’s You and Whose Army?, and Mock The Week.

On radio Andrew has appeared on Absolute Radio’s Rock and Roll Football and BBC Radio Wales The Rhod Gilbert Show.

Andrew’s delivery is easy going, conversational and straightforward (and according to Rhod Gilbert ‘effortlessly engaging and funny as hell’), combining tales from his small-town Northamptonshire past (and the trouble of being neither a northerner nor a southerner), how the English fear of embarrassment invariably backfires, and the angst over the incorrect assumption that he’s a ‘lad’.

Andrew is one of only seven comedians to perform for Banksy at Dismaland.
