As a co-founder of Virgin Games he’s seen from the inside the effects of rapid innovation and new competition. He also looks at the latest develops in mobile, digital, online and the Internet of Things.
Ross Sleight is a digital and mobile strategist specialising in marketing, relationship management and the future of digital media. He helps businesses understand the threats and opportunities of the online, mobile and digital worlds.
As an entrepreneur Ross has founded a number of new media business, including Online Magic, Fingertips, and Heresy, all of which he sold on to larger media and marketing agencies. He also co-founded Virgin Games, the Virgin Group’s on-line and mobile games company.
As Marketing and Operations Director at Virgin Games, Ross launched four new ‘verticals’ in the space of a year: Casino, Poker, Bingo and Skill Games. He was responsible for strategy, financial and marketing planning - aimed at driving rapid growth in a highly competitive but at the time very new, rapidly changing marketplace.
Outside business, Ross has advised the Cabinet Office on online government, and the DCMS and major music labels on how customers will consume music in the digital era. He’s also worked with a range of companies and brands including Associated Newspapers, Reuters, Ocado, Speedo, Dennis Publishing and British Airways.
Ross is now Chief Strategy Officer at Somo, a leading international mobile technology innovation and strategy company. He is a former New Media Age columnist and a regular member of judging panels for digital effectiveness awards. He frequently makes keynote speeches on digital and online CRM, and how to create value by identifying, understanding and meeting customers’ online needs. He also looks at how mobile has made and continues to make a huge impact on the world, the potential of the Internet of Things, and how businesses can move into the digital world.
