Alex is a television doctor and the UK Government's Youth Mental Health Ambassador. From his humble beginnings as a Medicine student, he has created a social media empire with over a million followers, and uses his platform as a force for positive change. An advocate for positive mental and physical health, he is on a mission to make mental health sit amongst maths and English on the national curriculum.

Dr Alex George is a TV doctor, best-selling author, and Youth Mental Health Ambassador to the government. He has become a well-known and respected figure amongst healthcare professionals in the UK, from his years as an A&E doctor, bringing the nation accessible and reassuring advice directly from the frontline throughout the pandemic.

Alex is on a mission to improve mental health support for young people and has become prolific throughout the UK in his campaigning for Early Support Hubs. He was appointed by the former Prime Minister as Youth Mental Health Ambassador to the government.

Alex has a hugely successful podcast, Stompcast, which promotes the importance of walking in nature for mental and physical wellbeing. In each episode, he goes on a stomp with a guest at a location of their choice, to take a meander into their lives.

He presented his first full length documentary for BBC One and Children Need, Dr Alex: Our Young Mental Health Crisis, and hosts a show on Classic FM, Inner Harmony, which explores the relationship between classical music and wellbeing.

Alex has two million followers on Instagram alone, and a rapidly growing audience on YouTube and TikTok. Across his platforms, he has become a leading voice in mental and physical health and wellbeing and uses his platform to make health and medicine more accessible to millennials and beyond.

Alex is the author of Live Well Every Day: Your Plan for a Happy Body and Mind, a practical and broad look at wellbeing from anxiety to diet to exercise. It was a Sunday Times number one bestseller. A Better Day: Your Positive Mental Health Handbook, A Better Day, is a positive, accessible, and practical toolkit guiding young readers in how they can care for their mental health with confidence.

Understanding AI Now

Priya Lakhani and Anne-Marie Imafidon

We were joined at 87 Barts Close by three brilliant speakers on a panel that delved into the complex world of Artificial Intelligence. Over the hour our panellists de-mystified AI, speaking about AI’s immense promise for enhancing our lives, alongside the apprehension it has generated regarding job security, privacy infringement, and ethical considerations.
