In 2020 Nigel went viral as Uncle Roger, a middle-aged Asian man reviewing egg fried rice, amassing millions of YouTube views and 3 million social media followers. He has also been nominated for the Best Newcomer award, launched a Rice To Meet You podcast and enjoyed a sell-out at the Soho Theatre. ‘The audience were at least half out of their seats,’ according to The Voice.

Biography

Nigel is a rapidly rising Malaysian comedian with a quizzical outlook on life as a British immigrant. He is already a cult hit for his eccentric alter-ego Uncle Roger, a middle-aged Asian whose incredulous reviews of egg fried rice recipes have amassed more than 250 million views on YouTube.

Delivered with a bright disposition and laid-back style, Nigel’s stand-up embraces the absurdities of adjusting to everyday life in the UK, from the perils of holidaying in Butlins and the risks of eating Boots' sushi to the cultural significance of Henry the Hoover. His sell-out show at the Soho Theatre was hailed by The Voice as ‘observational humour at its best’.

Since being nominated for Edinburgh’s coveted Best Newcomer Award, Nigel has sold out tours in the UK and Europe, guested on Mock the Week, and appeared on Jonathan Ross' Comedy Club and Stand Up Central. He is also the host of the increasingly popular Rice To Meet You podcast.
