Tim set up the first BBC bureau in Warsaw, covering the Solidarity revolution. Fluent in German and Russian, he became European and then Moscow Correspondent, until he was expelled from the old Soviet Union. He then took up the BBC post in Washington.
Tim has won BAFTA's Richard Dimbleby Award for the most important contribution to factual television. He has been named both Journalist and

THE CLIENT'S VIEW
by Samantha Graham / Informa
Know your audience and what will appeal to them, and ensure the presenter suits the format of your event. Find out whether they have worked in the venue before and what events they have done and check they will attend a rehearsal. Don't just rely on the 'name' of your presenter - they need to be able to do the job.
Working closely with an agency that can give you honest feedback about an act is vital - they can tell you if someone has fallen flat on their face or give glowing feedback from other clients.
