Biography

Best known as Captain Jack in Torchwood and Doctor Who, John has also made his mark as a judge on Any Dream Will Do, I’d Do Anything and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? He has opened the Royal Variety Performance, and hosted The Sound of Musicals.

John’s musical theatre credits include Anything Goes, Chicago, Love’s Labours Lost and Sunset Boulevard - in London and on Broadway. He has also been nominated for an Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical, for Sam Mendes’s The Fix.

John has released several albums: John Barrowman Swings Cole Porter, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Another Side. He has also presented Live and Kicking, and appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Al Murray’s Happy Hour, The Friday Night Project and Desperate Housewives.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
