Jimmy McGhie

Jimmy McGhie

Standup and Presenter

Synopsis

Jimmy mixes a sunny disposition with bemusement at much of the modern world, especially technology and the revival of the handle bar moustache. Since warming up for Loose Women, Jimmy’s onscreen TV credits include Russell Howard’s Good News. He also stormed JLA’s Real Variety Show.

Biography

Jimmy McGhie is an acclaimed stand-up comedian. A hit at Edinburgh and on the live circuit, he’s been a finalist in a host of new comedy competitions including the BBC New Talent and the Perth Comedy Festival.

Delivered with a down-to-earth, likeable charm and just the right amount of enthusiasm, Jimmy has the knack of making any audience feel like friends. He combines a bright disposition with a disdain for much of the modern world. He considers being a bit (but not really) posh (really posh people say ‘ears’ instead of ‘yes’), the myths of moving in with your girlfriend, how technology turns us into particularly needy children, and the horrors of fashionable media types.

Jimmy has performed on Live at the Electric and Russell Howard’s Good News. He’s been the warm-up act for shows from Loose Women to BBC Three’s Two Pints... and has supported Chris Addison and Simon Bird on tour.
