The Bad Shepherds

The Bad Shepherds

Punk songs with a Celtic feel

Synopsis

Adrian Edmondson’s 3-piece was nominated as Best Live Act in Radio 2’s Folk Awards. They play a mix of Clash, Jam and Sex Pistols – only with mandolins, fiddles and uilleann pipes.

Biography

Drawing on influences as diverse as The Sex Pistols, Capercaille and Kraftwerk, The Bad Shepherds are Adrian Edmonson, Andy Dinan and Troy Donockley.

After ‘accidentally’ purchasing a mandolin Ade Edmonson (who was touring with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band at the time), persuaded Andy and Troy to try his ‘punk songs with a celtic feel.’ A short tour of St Lucia later, and the band was fully formed.

The Bad Shepherds are now regulars at festivals and venues across the UK, have produced two albums, and been nominated as ‘Best Live Act’ in the BBC R2 Folk Awards.
