There is a Rock Choir in almost every large town from Edinburgh to Southampton. Founded on a simple desire to bring communities together, RC now has a national profile and a four-album deal. For large audiences up to 200 members perform magical versions of songs like Pretty Woman.
Rock Choir is a collection of local, amateur choirs established by director Caroline Redman Lusher. It has attracted the top musicians and tutors from across the UK to help her introduce Rock Choir to communities from Edinburgh to Southampton, Norwich to Swansea. It is not a franchise but a family led organisation and is fondly referred to as 'The People's Choir'
Designed to appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds, especially those not usually attracted to choral societies and more professional choirs, Rock Choir is focused on members enjoying the music and the experience of group singing. Their repertoire covers pop, soul, Motown and gospel and has become the UK’s most popular contemporary choir by participation with thousands of members nationwide.
The Rock Choir phenomenon captured the attention of both the BBC and Universal Music in when, after a BBC Breakfast interview, they were offered their own four -album record deal. Rock Choir Vol1 went straight into the top 10. There has followed coverage from The Times, features on The Paul O'Grady Show and their very own ITV documentary The Choir That Rocks.
With communities all around the country, Rock Choir produce great performances from line-ups from a few dozen to a few hundred, delivering a truly impressive sound.
