Biography

Amy Webb is a global authority on strategic planning who transformed the practice of strategic foresight into a rigorous, data-driven discipline. As Founder and CEO of the Future Today Strategy Group, she built the world's first foresight tools grounded in quantitative modelling. Her work identifies early signals of transformation across industries, converts them into practical intelligence, and maps the implications of emerging technologies from artificial intelligence and biotechnology to climate systems and geopolitical-economic shifts. Amy and her Future Today team advise a significant proportion of Fortune 100 companies, and she has also advised three White House administrations, various US federal agencies and Congress, as well as heads of state across four continents on technology, long-term planning and policy.

As an author, Amy’s books are considered vital and influential, have been translated into 23 languages, and are read in boardrooms, classrooms and policy circles worldwide. Her international bestseller The Big Nine reframed global debates about AI and corporate power in intelligent systems. The Genesis Machine, which explores synthetic biology, was named by The New Yorker as one of the year's best nonfiction works. Whilst her seminal work The Signals Are Talking continues to offer a blueprint for how to differentiate between a long-term trend with real impact and a passing fad. Amy also collaborates with the creative community, advising writers, directors and producers on projects for Netflix, Hulu and Marvel.

Amy explores how leaders and organisations can anticipate disruption and shape their future through data-driven foresight. She examines artificial intelligence and the convergence of AI with advanced sensors and biotechnology, examining what she terms Living Intelligence, systems that can sense, learn, adapt and evolve. She shares how to think like an effective futurist, harness strategic foresight tools to drive innovation, identify meaningful trends, and prepare organisations for emerging technologies. Her work equips leaders with frameworks and insights to understand the trajectory of technological change, and to actively shape it.

For the past decade, Amy has served as a professor at New York University's Stern School of Business, where she developed and teaches a strategic foresight course. She is a Visiting Fellow at Oxford University's Säid School of Business and a former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Ranked the third most influential management thinker in the world by Thinkers50, she has been named by Forbes as ‘one of the five women changing the world’, and recognised by the BBC amongst its 100 Women of the Year. She is an elected Life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on several boards for the World Economic Forum.
