Biography

Justin Hughes works as a strategic adviser to senior leadership teams on building high-performance cultures. With clients ranging from Microsoft to the UN, NATO, and Mercedes F1, he draws on his experience as a military fighter and Red Arrows pilot to share transferable skills that help turn strategy into reality and close the gap between expectation and performance.

For six years Justin flew an RAF Tornado F3, taking part in numerous deployments including United Nations peacekeeping operations. He was then selected for the Red Arrows, becoming the Executive Officer, and performing over 250 displays worldwide. Since, Justin has presented keynote speeches and workshops around the globe sharing his expertise on teamwork and organisational effectiveness. He addresses challenges on transformation, agility, internal alignment, innovation and risk and safety with clarity and challenges conventional thinking on themes including leadership behaviour, continuous improvement, resilience, cognitive diversity, and decision-making under pressure.

Justin is a contributor to BP’s global Leading in Operations programme, and runs a workshop on culture, leadership, and priorities, focused on understanding the ‘at-a-distance’ impact of senior executives’ behaviour on what and how things happen on the front line.

Author of The Business of Excellence, Justin’s media coverage includes The Independent, The London Evening Standard, Director Magazine, The Daily Telegraph, BBC Breakfast and BBC Business Live.

“What differentiates Justin is the immediate benefit. People really bring it back to the office.”
