In print and on-air, Louise has covered markets, business and finance over two decades. A former City broker, business school lecturer, and a Chartered Financial Analyst, she has combined her technical and behind-the-scene knowledge with journalism to explain complex issues, from equities markets to personal finance, to all audiences.
Louise Cooper is a financial journalist and analyst. She writes and comments extensively on TV, radio and in print on economics, market and industry matters, and personal finance.
After working for Goldman Sachs as an Equities Research Salesperson (in other words, a broker) selling UK and European shares to fund managers, Louise moved into journalism. Working extensively with the BBC World Service on business and finance stories she became the global broadcaster’s senior business reporter.
Returning to the City, Louise joined interdealer brokers BGC Partners as a financial markets analyst before becoming a full-time journalist and presenter as well as serving as Senior Lecturer in Finance at Kingston University. With over 20 years experience on the financial frontline she combines the informed, technical background of a banker, with the easy, accessible language of a broadcaster.
A regular on TV and radio, Louise can often be heard on Radios 2 and 4 (particularly Money Box and PM) and 5Live. She has also appeared on Question Time, This Week and Good Morning Britain as well as on Bloomberg, Channel 4, CNBC, CNN, and Sky News. Alongside her popular financial blog, which is often taken up by other media, she has written for the Evening Standard, City AM, the Daily Mail, The Times, The Sun, The Guardian and The Spectator.
