Former Creative Works Director, Google
A social anthropologist by training, Abigail joined Google after a career in advertising and media. As Google's Director of US Creative Works, she examined our emotional relationship with technology. She now explores how leaders can harness their own humanity and creativity as a competitive edge in an AI world, combining human-centred thinking with technology to drive innovation and organisational transformation.
Abigail Posner is a strategist, author and founder of the Human Code Company. She brings an anthropologist's perspective to innovation, creativity and leadership in an AI-driven world. She spent 13 years at Google as Director of US Creative Works, where she led multidisciplinary teams developing AI-powered advertising and branded content strategies for YouTube's top global advertisers. Before Google, she was Executive Vice President of Brand Strategy at Publicis New York and Strategy Director at DDB New York, leading global client initiatives across industries.
Having studied social anthropology at Harvard, Abigail is driven by the question "Why do humans do what they do?" At Google, she pioneered Humanizing Digital, an anthropology-based thought leadership series exploring our emotional relationship with technology. Rather than asking "What can tech do?", she asked "What does tech do to us?" She used the insights to create valuable strategies for the business. She also led a cultural transformation initiative for Google's 4,000+ sales professionals, and created a global insights programme furthering customer understanding across client organisations.
As data has increased in quantity and improved in quality, Abigail arrived at a single idea: that 'humanness' has become more valuable. She founded the Human Code Company to help leaders confront the challenge of creating a future when change has become so rapid? The Human Code is the art of combining experiences, interests and perspectives to lead with greater impact and originality. Abigail's work enables leaders to realise innovation and drive organisational transformation by combining AI and data insights with creative vision and human-centred thinking. She demonstrates that AI can also mean 'Amplify Impact,' and that combining it with their most human qualities creates results no algorithm can replicate.
Abigail explores how leaders can harness their unique perspectives, creativity and personality as the ultimate competitive edge. She addresses the paradox of having access to the most powerful technology in history yet leaders being conditioned to minimise the very things that make them irreplaceable. She examines how to unlock creativity and ingenuity, reframing AI as a creative multiplier that frees the imagination to think bigger. She also addresses the practicalities of leading teams through AI adoption and building a culture where AI is embraced and continuously improves alongside their people.
Through the Human Code newsletter, podcast and writing in outlets including The Drum and The New York Times, Abigail is shaping the conversation on culture, technology and human behaviour. Her work has been recognised with a United Nations Media Impact Award, and she sits on the board of ENDI Corp.
