Biography

Yaw Nsarkoh has extensive experience, spanning over twenty-nine years with Unilever, in leadership, and managing market conditions at strategic levels across developing and developed economies. His areas of expertise include business development, strategic leadership, marketing and branding, corporate governance, and organisational strategy. He is the former Executive Vice President of Unilever Global Markets. Prior to this, he served as the Managing Director for Unilever Nigeria, and East and Southern Africa.

Yaw has played several strategic roles on boards in Ghana and across Africa. Key amongst them is as Executive Board Member at Unilever Ghana, and at Trade/Employee Associations and Strategic Private Sector committees. He was previously Director of Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Chairman at East African Shippers Council and Director at Changing Lives Endowment Fund (CLEF).

He was instrumental, during the tenure of former Unilever CEO Paul Polman, in delivering a visionary, bold and unconventional journey towards corporate recognition as a leader in sustainability.

Yaw holds a postgraduate Diploma in Management from Henley Management College and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.

Yaw believes sustainability is important because it improves and secures the long-term health of society. Our world is not in a good place right now; therefore, we must act. The SDGs give a shorthand, but we must all work together to deliver more liberty, egalitarianism, and fraternity.

He is a regular speaker on business issues including marketing and leadership.
