Sarah Armstrong Smith is a cybersecurity expert and author. She served as the EMEA Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft before joining the international cybersecurity and data risk company Performanta as Chief Strategy Officer. She played an integral part in Microsoft’s digital transformation and cloud adoption policies, and before that she served as the Group Head of Resilience and Crisis Management at the London Stock Exchange Group.
Sarah is also the author of two books, Effective Crisis Management and Understand the Cyber Attacker Mindset. In the former, she reflects on real-life cases to demonstrate what can go away during a period of crisis, and what steps should be in place to respond to a crisis. In the latter, she fuses case-study analysis and profiles of notorious cyber-attacker groups to demonstrate the importance of the human side of cybersecurity - including how to identify and avoid manipulation by hackers.
As a speaker, Sarah covers the intersection of the business side of cybersecurity with risk management, looking at the importance of resilience, human behaviour and the broader social and economic issues that can coincide with a digital attack.
