Biography

Sara Davies is an entrepreneur, investor and one of the UK’s most recognisable business personalities. She built her company from a bedroom start-up into a global craft brand, has become a leading voice on entrepreneurship and innovation, and appeared on five series of BBC One’s Dragons’ Den.

While still at university, Sara founded Crafter’s Companion from her student bedroom after spotting a gap in the market for a crafting tool she had developed. Within a few years the business had expanded internationally, selling into more than 40 countries with a multi-million-pound turnover. Her journey from idea to global success has made her a role model for entrepreneurs and creatives alike.

Sara joined Dragons’ Den as an investor, at the time the youngest ever Dragon, bringing energy and enthusiasm as well as her practical experience of scaling a business, backing a range of ventures across sectors. She has since become one of the programme’s most active Dragons, known for her hands-on approach to mentoring founders and her clear-eyed assessments of what it takes to grow a business.

Sara is a prominent advocate for small business and entrepreneurship in the UK. She addresses the challenges of starting and growing a company, from balancing risk with resilience to managing rapid expansion, and offering insights into leadership, innovation and customer engagement. Her story also reflects a personal determination, combining a working-class upbringing with a drive to build something from scratch, and balancing business success with family life.

Alongside her business interests, Sara has become a familiar face to wider audiences through appearances including Strictly Come Dancing and This Morning, where her approachable style and passion for craft have won her a broader following. Sara has explored and shared her own business lessons and experiences, from how to find inspiration to mentorship and time management, in both her autobiography, We Can All Make It, and her book The Six-Minute Entrepreneur: 52 Short Lessons for Long-Term Business Success, both of which were Sunday Times bestsellers.

In presentations, Sara combines warmth, humour, inspiration and hard-won, practical experience. She explains how to spot opportunities, scale a company and lead with purpose, while staying true to your values and customers. Sara is the North East Ambassador for Smart Works, a charity supporting women into work, and is also Avon UK's Chief Inspiration Officer.
