Former diplomat Priya Guha MBE works across technology, innovation and geopolitics with roles in venture capital, start ups, government and on the boards of UK-listed businesses.
Previously she was the UK Ecosystem General Manager for RocketSpace, a technology campus for high-growth start ups that helps them scale. Prior to entering the tech sector, Priya was British Consul General in San Francisco, the latest role in an international diplomatic career that had previously taken in postings in New Delhi and Madrid.
Priya focuses on technological change, the implications for business and government and the leadership skills needed to thrive in this changing world. As well as looking at how the most cutting-edge companies in the world operate and influence, she also examines the intersection of technology and geopolitics, from the nature of regulation to who will emerge as the power brokers of tomorrow.
Priya also discusses the global context of digital transformation, looking to her experience of Silicon Valley and India to bring this to life. She also considers the strong leadership traits needed to thrive in the age of artificial intelligence. She stresses that modern innovation comes from creativity and diversity, and understanding this shift in culture is a key ingredient to good leadership.
As well as her role as Venture Partner at the pioneering California-based VC Merian Ventures, Priya is a member of the Investment Governance Board of Future Planet Capital, an impact-led venture capital firm built to back innovative companies from the world's top universities and research ecosystems. She is a Non-Executive Director at Reach plc, the Herald Investment Trust, UK Research & Innovation, deep tech innovation organisation the Digital Catapult and GB Badminton. Priya also Chairs the Durham University Business School International Advisory Board and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry UK Industry Advisory Board, and is Associate Faculty at the Ashridge Hult Business School. In addition, she is on the Advisory Board of Global Tech Advocates and a Trustee at Tech She Can, a charity whose mission is to make technology careers more inclusive and accessible for all. Priya was awarded an MBE for services to international trade and women in innovation.
