Sharmadean Reid

Biography

Sharmadean Reid is the founder of The Stack World, a media company with a global community of over 20,000 women. Established with the aim of combating gender inequity and inequality through creating a platform for the Women's creator economy to buy and sell from each other, as well as providing coaching, workshops and advice for its members in order to aid them in earning more.

Prior to founding The Stack World, Sharmadean came to prominence through her business WAH Nails. Established in 2009, WAH was a pioneer of the nail art scene, opening a series of salons that combined technology with beauty. WAH was highly successful and rewarding, with Sharmadean being recognised with honours including an MBE, as well as Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman of the Year, Barclays Entrepreneur Icon of the Year and a Marie Claire Future Shaper award. 

However, her experience of the early days of entrepreneurship, particularly within a patriarchal structure that did not take women or the beauty industry seriously, stayed with Sharmadean. It is these experiences that lead to her founding The Stack World, to provide a supportive environment to enable women to reach their next milestone - whether that be raising capital for a business, growing a customer base, or personal self development. These are lessons that she also shares in her book, New Methods for Women: A Manifesto for Independence, where she shares 49 essays that offer new perspectives on life, work, self, friendships, parenthood and relationships.
