Biography

One of the country’s most highly regarded and respected comedians, Dominic Holland has enjoyed success as both a stand-up comedian and a writer and has appeared on shows including Have I Got News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and The Royal Variety Show.

Dominic’s first full length solo show, Red Hot Dutch with Dominic, enjoyed huge success at the Edinburgh Fringe and he was presented with the prestigious Perrier Newcomer Award. Regularly playing at The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, he quickly moved into television and became a familiar face thanks to his TV round-up on Clive Anderson Now. His sharp observations of everyday life have great appeal, applauded by the critics for their inoffensive nature.

Dominic has written material for the late Bob Monkhouse, Harry Enfield, Lenny Henry, and Clive Anderson. He has also contributed to The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, The Independent, The Sun, and the Daily Mirror. He is the author of many fiction and non-fiction titles including I, Gabriel, The Ripple Effect, The Fruit Bowl, Open Links, A Man’s Life, Only in America, Takes on Life and Eclipsed, the latter an unconventional memoir-cum-parenting guide exploring Dominic's experience as father to Hollywood star Tom Holland.

Dominic's BBC Radio 4 show The Small World of Dominic Holland was followed up with Holland Shorts, he's been a regular on The News Quiz, and was the co-writer of Hal, a sitcom starring fellow comedian Hal Cruttenden, in which Dominic also appeared. In his podcast, Takes on Life, Dominic speaks to guests from comedy, business, sport and academia about their views on the vagaries of life.

“An absolute dream to work with. His performance was brilliant – everyone loved him.”
