Eve Muirhead

Biography

Eve Muirhead is a curling Olympic gold and bronze medallist, former Team GB skip, and Olympic Chef de Mission. Returning to the ice to compete after her management role, she brings a particular understanding of personal and team performance and resilience, as well as leadership under pressure.

Raised in a curling family, Eve took up the sport at nine and at 19, she made her Olympic debut as one of the youngest skips in Games history, leading Team GB at Vancouver 2010. She then became the youngest-ever skip to win a Winter Olympic medal when she guided her team to bronze at Sochi 2014. After a difficult Olympic cycle, fourth place at the 2018 Games, followed by major hip surgery required to save her career, Eve returned to the ice, winning gold at Beijing 2022, and carrying Team GB's flag. She retired from the sport an Olympic gold medallist, three-time world medallist and multiple European champion.

Eve moved from athlete to management with the British Olympic Association, and was appointed Chef de Mission at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics and the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. She navigated the complexities of Olympic operations, supporting athletes across different Games cycles but also challenging the long-established processes and routines of the organisation. She also had to manage the complexity of working with elite performers, delivering difficult news, prioritising, and experiencing how leadership shields frontline athletes, often without recognition.

Eve explores what separates high-performing teams from the rest, examining the planning and decision-making that can be the difference between success and failure. She considers leadership under pressure, the importance of difficult conversations and shared understanding, and how to maintain performance when stakes are high and conditions are unpredictable. Drawing on her experience with the BOA, she looks at prioritising resources and measuring performance. Whilst as someone that has moved back from management to participation, she speaks on building resilience, navigating change and embedding the mindset required to succeed at the highest level.
