The Speakers Sporting Calendar 2021

2021 is a huge year for sport. After a turbulent 12 months of postponements and cancellations this year will hopefully see the Euros, the return of Wimbledon, and the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. As the Covid vaccine is rolled out competitors and fans worldwide are crossing their fingers in the hope that there will be enough stability for competitive sport to once again fill stadiums (and TV screens) across the globe.

Taking the opportunity to bring your team together and are looking for a relevant keynote speaker to help motivate them?  Or perhaps you’re specifically looking for a keynote speaker who can share lessons from their world on topics like resilience, teamwork and leadership? You might find the following ideas useful:

11th June – Euros

Eniola Aluko

A former striker at Juventus, England and Chelsea Eniola is a qualified lawyer, and is now Aston Villa Women’s sporting director. Having confronted the discrimination and damaging culture within the England women’s coaching team she examines the lessons that can be learned from the failures of the FA, and what successful teamwork and leadership looks like.

Pierluigi Collina

If you’re looking to book a keynote speaker from the world of football how about the most admired World Cup referee? Pierluigi draws on his beginnings as a financial advisor, finding parallels between business and football – from dealing with difficult situations to learning from your mistakes.

June – Wimbledon

Martina Navratilova

A record-breaking tennis player, Martina won more tournament titles than any other person in history. As a keynote speaker she addresses what it takes to perform at such a high level, and is an advocate for diversity.

John McEnroe

Winning across singles and doubles tournaments McEnroe is one of the sport’s legends. He has hosted TV programmes and dabbled in the music industry, and is now involved in Superset, where today’s champions are pitched against tennis greats.

July – Olympic Games

Kate Richardson-Walsh

If your team wants to learn from an Olympic champion then Kate is the perfect keynote speaker. As the team captain she lead the women’s hockey team to victory in Rio, and shares lessons on creating a winning culture, leadership and teamwork.

Kelly Holmes

Winning Olympic gold in both the 800m and 1500m, Kelly knows what it takes to achieve your goals and the resilience it takes to get you there. She is also open about her experiences with mental ill-health, and the importance of this to overall wellbeing.

August – Paralympic Games

Steve Brown

Steve was paralysed in his early 20s after falling from a balcony. He rebuilt his life through wheelchair rugby, becoming the GB team captain at the 2012 Olympics. Now a broadcaster and keynote speaker, he tells audiences about his inspiring journey and the lessons he learned about teamwork, leadership and motivation.

Martine Wright

A survivor of the 7/7 Circle Line Bombing, in which she lost both legs, Martine has had an incredible Paralympic career, with 40 caps in sitting volleyball. As a keynote speaker she talks about thriving through change and setting goals, against the background of the moving and motivational story of her recovery.
