Jon is a multiple Radio Academy Award and Bafta winner, bringing edgy comedy to BBC Radios 1,2,4 5Live and 6Music. He hosts The Jon Holmes Show at weekend breakfast on Radio X. Writer, comedian, actor, presenter and sometime mischief-maker, Jon Holmes is an eight-time Sony award winner, as well as recipient of two Baftas.
Finding his natural home on radio, Jon has written for some of the medium’s most popular and acclaimed comedy and panel shows including Dead Ringers, Loose Ends, The Now Show and The 99p Challenge, working with Armando Iannucci with whom he also worked on TV. His Listen Against satirised BBC radio, particularly Radio 4 (on which it was broadcast) with news presenter Alice Arnold. Listen Against was widely acclaimed and described as “the mischievous offspring of Feedback and The Day Today”.
Jon has also presented a number of radio programmes including his own shows on BBC 6Music and Radio 1. He was fired from XFM and Virgin Radio for various on-air stunts, the latter of which earned the station a record fine. He has since learned his lesson and has returned to XFM and now hosts the weekend breakfast show for the station’s nationwide offspring, Radio X. He has also co-presented shows on Radio 2 with Miranda Hart.
On TV he’s written for Have I Got News For You, Top Gear, The Harry Hill Show, and Mock the Week. He also co-wrote, with Stephen Fry, the script for the Bafta film awards. He writes on travel for The Sunday Times and has written a number of books including Status Quo and the Kangaroo, The History of the World Through Twitter and Rock Star Babylon.
