Roisin Conaty

Roisin Conaty

Edinburgh Best Newcomer Award 2010

Synopsis

Since scooping the Best Newcomer award at Edinburgh, Roisin has won fans on Russell Howard’s Good News, Taskmaster and Have I Got News For You, as well as with her acting turn in Man Down.

Biography

One of only five women to win the best newcomer award at Edinburgh, Roisin Conaty is one of the brightest female comics around with appearances on Have I Got News..., 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Radio 4’s News Quiz.

The “effervescent jokesmith” (according to the Evening Standard) is a gifted mimic and brings the assorted characters from her life to the stage as she recounts tales of living with her nan, the perils of modern technology, and the importance of starting a new job as the person you want to be (and with all your grandparents alive so their funerals can provide useful days off).

Roisin’s down-to-earth observations and bright, unaffected delivery have seen her become a hit on the live circuit and win fans with appearances on Russell Howard’s Good News, Taskmaster, Live at the Apollo, a raft of TV and radio panel shows, and Victoria Wood’s Angina Monologues. She also plays the maniacally irrepressible Jo in Greg Davies’ hit Channel 4 sit-com Man Down, as well as starring as Marcella in her own E4 sit-com GameFace.
