James Acaster

Fee Band

With a wonderfully relaxed style, the five-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee tells stories about everyday trivia, how his dad lied to him as a child, what Romans would have made of texting, and safari parks with no lions (due to strong winds). The Standard have described him as ‘delightfully whimsical and deliciously daft.’

Biography

James Acaster is a standup, writer and actor. Nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award five years in a row, his crafted observations and style that combines perfect timing with a casual awkwardness has quickly made him a success on the live and festival circuits and on television. James is an award-nominated stand-up quickly making an impression on the live circuit and acclaimed as one of the most naturally gifted new comedians around.

With a keen but laid-back style, James delivers quirky reflections combined with flights of fancy and self-deprecating observations. He explains why Pancake Day excites him so much, the awkward etiquette of sharing a platonic bed with another man, why Brexit is like a teabag, and his research on bread involving humans and ducks. ‘Delightfully whimsical and deliciously daft’ as the Evening Standard described him.

James was the first the British comedian to produce more than one Netflix special with his four-episode standup series encompassing everything from the justice system to celebrity gossip. He hosts the food and comedy podcast Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster and is a regular on TV with numerous appearances on Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie to You? He’s been a contestant on Taskmaster, and co-hosted, with Josh Widdicombe, his own series on Dave, Hypothetical. He’s also the author of the book James Acaster's Classic Scrapes.
