The former HARDtalk host founded and chairs influential forums across the Arab world. He also explores the issues facing India.


An award-winning journalist and foreign correspondent, Tim Sebastian grilled many of the world’s most significant leaders and power-brokers for HARDtalk. With the Emir of Qatar and the BBC, he has since established the Doha Debates - a forum in which Arab voices freely address controversial issues.

Tim set up the first BBC bureau in Warsaw, covering the Solidarity revolution. Fluent in German and Russian, he became European and then Moscow Correspondent, until he was expelled from the old Soviet Union. He then took up the BBC post in Washington.

Tim has won BAFTA’s Richard Dimbleby Award for the most important contribution to factual television. He has been named both Journalist and Interviewer of the Year by the Royal Television Society.
