Since his debut with The Commodores, Lionel Richie has sold 100 million albums and collected 4 Grammy Awards. For private gigs Lionel appears as a trio (on keyboard) or with a full band, reprising classics like Hello and All Night Long.
One of the world’s biggest selling artists, Lionel Richie started his career as the lead singer and saxophonist with the Commodores before becoming one of the most popular solo performers in the world with a continuous run of hits over four decades.
After performing in a succession of soul and R&B groups as a teenager, Lionel joined the Commodores. After one album with Atlantic Records they moved to the legendary Motown label where they honed their unique blend of funk and soul with hits including Brick House and Machine Gun. They shifted towards a more mature, ballad sound with even bigger hits including Easy and Three Times a Lady before Lionel moved to become a solo artist.
Lionel’s solo debut album featured the number ones Truly and My Love and launched his career as one of the biggest soul and ballad singer-songwriters of the 1980s. Huge international hits followed including All Night Long, Stuck On You, Say You Say Me, Hello, and Dancing on the Ceiling.
An incredible live performer, Lionel continues to sell out arenas on every continent. Selling over 100million records, and with a host of Grammys and an Oscar, Lionel is one of the few performers who might legitimately be described as a music legend. With a career spanning six decades in a notoriously fickle business and songs that are known by people of all ages and backgrounds, Lionel is undoubtedly one of the greats.
