JLA WORKSHOP LAUNCH - MONDAY 8TH JUNE AT THE WORX, FULHAM, LONDON SW6

In partnership with Creating Sunshine and The Worx, we are delighted to invite you to experience five ground breaking Leadership - HRD - Training workshops.

Described by the Financial Times as 'the UK's leading speaker bureau', JLA has a long-established reputation for uncovering exciting and original talent to inspire and inform corporate and public sector delegates. The time has now come to launch a small number of high-value workshops, enabling HRD and events professionals to equip leaders and managers for the challenges we are all facing.

Deliverables include practical tools on how to adjust strategy, understand and calculate risk, inspire effective teamwork, improve decision-making, encourage clear communication, re-build confidence - and rise to the challenge.

CASPAR BERRY

Risk-taking and decision-making in poker, business and life

Applications: sales, management and leadership training, innovation
and change proagrammes.

Whether you are leading a team, identifying savings, planning budgets or negotiating with suppliers and customers.... risk plays a role in YOUR LIFE!

Using game playing as the metaphor, the former Hollywood screenwriter and professional poker player provides practical insights into risk, uncertainty and the science of decision-making. Offering tools (not rules), Caspar demonstrates the difference between a calculated risk and a gamble, how to balance short and long-term goals, and how to make the most of opportunities.

CARRIE & DAVID GRANT

Breaking down the barriers

Applications: team building, change management.

Any team benefits from greater confidence and cooperation between its members, and the ability to rise to a challenge - especially during a recession.

TV's celebrated vocal coaches bring a fresh, feel-good approach to team building. Participants learn basic vocal technique, harmony and counter melody with Let It Be - then perform Lean On Me as anything from Italian opera to punk. Gently drawing individuals out of their comfort zone, Carrie and David help shape attitudes to change and show what becomes possible with a shared vision.

MAX MCKEOWN

Learning to surf the waves

Applications: leadership strategy, innovation and customer experience programmes.

At times like this, sticking rigidly to any strategy is like King Canute trying to hold back the waves. Instead we must learn to surf what we cannot control.

Described as Europe's answer to Tom Peters, Max delivers an interactive session on how to thrive in the recession and beyond. Your old plans won't help. Hoping for the best won't work. Learn how the most resilient leaders inspire that all-important, trust-filled, make-a-difference energy from their people in a blend of cutting edge strategy, pragmatic wisdom, acerbic wit and pop culture.

PIT-STOP CHALLENGE (LIMITED SPACES)

High performance teamwork

Applications: leadership and executive / management training.

Anyone who watches a Grand Prix marvels at the skill and co-ordination with which pit crews re-fuel and re-wheel a racing car. What can it teach us?

Using Damon Hill's Formula 1 car participants are taught pit lane tasks, putting what they learn into practise against the clock. As Richard West explains, the session demonstrates the competitive advantage when personal and collective responsibility combines with quick, accurate communication. It shows how the real gains come at the margins, when there is true alignment of goals between individuals, teams and partners.

ADRIAN WEBSTER & BLUE BEETLE (MORNING ONLY)

Lessons from Polar Bear Pirates

Applications: all levels of training, customer and change programmes.

Training often involves case studies, but they are rarely enacted right in front of you - based on the real issues confronting your organisation.

Adrian Webster brings his hugely successful Polar Bear Pirates book to life. With the help of actor-trainers, participants see the characters that impede progress in every workplace. After watching less than perfect scenarios on anything from customer service and appraisals to sales technique, you are encouraged to direct the action yourselves and show what you would do differently.
