A question of priorities

Bjorn Lomborg (Denmark)

Bjørn Lomborg is a committed environmentalist, who nonetheless argues that the current argument to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will do little to alter climte change. He challenges the way in which environmental organisations use scientific data to push certain agendas.

Bjørn believes that curent statistics show an improving picture of the world, not a declining one. His papers outlining his argument gave rise to over 400 articles in all the major papers, including some of the alarmist accounts he was arguing against.

The Skeptical Environmentalist outlines Bjørn's alternative suggestions for tackling major environmental problems. Bjørn stresses the need for clear-headed prioritisation of resources. In particular, he argues that the international community would be best served by richer nations addressing easily solved problems, such as trade agreements and disease prevention.

Bjørn's arguments are presented in non-technical, accessible language and are backed up by sources from easily accessed materials, allowing audiences to check his arguments for themselvs.

Bjørn has published internationally in the fields of game theory and computer simulations, and is a member of the Learned Society of Aarhus and the American Political Science Association. A former Greenpeace member, he is also a vegetarian and an unashamedly left-wing sympathizer.
