Using marketing to win high-stakes business
As Director of Marketing for London 2012, David Magliano worked with Seb Coe and the team to build support for London's bid. Together they made the pitch to IOC members around the world, devising the crucial final presentation in Singapore.
Originally a founder director of the low-cost airline Go, and then part of the management buyout team from BA, David helped increase Go's value from £100m to £400m in nine months. He has been through three start-ups, an MBO, an exit and merger. He is also a non-executive director of Dyson and served on the board of the ad agency Ogilvy.
In speeches David tells the story of the Olympic bid, including how a fax from Nelson Mandela helped London win - and why the French were so surprised they lost. He also speaks on using marketing, PR and advertising skills to win high-stakes business.
