BIOGRAPHY
Tim Brabants won Britain's first ever kayaking gold in the 1,000m sprint at the Beijing Olympics, to add to his two bronze medals. When he's not training or competing against the best in the world, he is a specialist A&E doctor at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Tim's first experience of canoeing was a week-long course in the school holidays, which his mother hoped would channel his restless energy. Although there were no whitewater rapids at Walton-on-Thames, he was soon hooked on the adrenaline rush of flatwater racing and went on to come third in the Junior World Championships.
Tim's presentation focuses on determination and finding the inner strength to set a target and achieve it, whatever the obstacles. He also explores the struggle to cope after his Olympic triumph, the need to find a healthy balance between two careers, and his new-found love of triathlons.
