After his first television role as BBC's Troubleshooter, Sir Gerry is now perhaps best known for the series, Can Gerry Robinson fix the NHS?

Gerry Robinson's career started as a trainee in the cost office of Lesney Products, home of Matchbox Toys. He quickly progressed to chief management accountant, before joining Lex and then Grand Met. He became Managing Director of their UK Coca Cola business, and eventually CEO of the contract services division.

Robinson led a management buy-out, renaming it The Compass Group and floating on the London stock market. He then joined Granada and merged it with Compass, combining a catering services and hospitality business with a huge media operation.

Since stepping down at Granada, Sir Gerry has chaired BSkyB, ITN, Arts Council England and Allied Domecq. In 2005 he floated Raphoe Management, a firm which invests in ailing businesses that have fallen foul of bad management or inefficient capital structures.

THE CLIENT'S VIEW
by Sarah Littlejohns / RICS

Inspiring and thought-provoking speakers encourage our audiences to go back and make changes to their businesses. The impact of these speakers can be wider than the business context and make the audience re-evaluate the direction of their lives. Very often a conference is referred to as, for example, the 'James Cracknell' year - that's success!
