BIOGRAPHY
Chris Goodall taught economics at Harvard, worked as a consultant for KcKinsey and BSG and is now Head of Competition Practice at Europe's leading media analysis firm. He's also one of the UK's most influential and considered voices on how individuals, business and government can best respond to climate change.
Chris has published three books. The Green Guide for Business, sponsored by Barclays, with a US edition released in 2010; Ten Technologies to Save the Planet, since translated into Chinese; and How to Live a Low-carbon Life - winner of a major award and described by New Scientist as 'the definitive guide.'
On a practical level Chris has co-designed a plan to make the Maldives carbon neutral, with GE amongst the first suppliers to sign contracts. Closer to home he sat on the judging panel of the Manchester Report, a high profile competition to find the most practical solutions for emissions reduction.
In presentations Chris acknowledges that whilst many want to be greener, for business it's often easier said than done. How should we measure a company's carbon footprint? Are dryers or hand towels more eco-friendly? Recycled paper or FSC-certified? What's the greenest company car? And from a climate change perspective, are West Indian bananas really 'worse' than Dutch tomatoes?
Chris writes for The Guardian. Sunday Times, Independent and a variety of magazines. He has been a private investor, director and interim CEO in several start-ups, notably in the technology sector, and has also served on the UK Competition Commission and on the board of Which?
