BIOGRAPHY
Lady Judge was the youngest ever Commissioner of the US Securities & Exchange Commission (and the first female director of a British merchant bank), before taking on the role of Chair of the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
Barbara Judge trained as a commercial lawyer and banker. Amongst many other distinctions, she was chosen to negotiate the opening of the Tokyo Stock Exchange to foreign members. She has also served as Deputy Chair of Britain's Financial Reporting Council.
In presentations Judge outlines the pros and cons of nuclear power, the advantage of new build and the role it should play in response to climate change. Away from energy policy she is also happy to speak on corporate governance issues, including transparency and accountability.
Aside from other responsibilities Lady Judge is Deputy Chairman of Friends Provident and Co-Chair of the UK/US Task Force on Corporate Governance. She also sits on the board of News International and chairs the Governing Body of the School of Oriental and African Studies.
