BIOGRAPHY
President of the Countryside Alliance and Trustee of The Horse Trust, Ann led the House of Lords opposition to the Commons' proposed foxhunting ban. A passionate advocate for the countryside and riding, she has been a member of the British Horse Racing Board and a keen sheep-farmer.
The first female president of the Cambridge Union Society, Ann became a trainee presenter for Yorkshire Television after graduating from Newnham College. She swapped her fledgling TV career for one as a high-profile criminal barrister.
Once the Labour candidate for Hitchin, Ann was created a Labour Life Peer and, as Baroness Mallalieu, has held the post of Opposition Spokesperson for Home Affairs & Legal Affairs. She was the Legal Assessor to the General Medical Council, Chairman of the Independent Council of the Ombudsman for Corporate Estate Agents and held the Chair of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.
