Marcus Brigstocke Colin Stout

Fee Band

The Telegraph describe Marcus as ‘a rare stand-up who makes you laugh and think.’ After hanging up his crown as King Arthur in Spamalot he’s back on Radio 4 as the friendly questioner on I’ve Never Seen Star Wars and in Radio 4’s Brig Society.

Biography

Marcus Brigstocke is a major British comedy talent as writer, actor, presenter, and performer. It’s said he is heard on Radio 4 more frequently than the shipping forecast.

On television Marcus launched The Late Edition, the late night BBC4 answer to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He has hosted and appeared as a panellist on Have I Got News for You. He has also been on Steph’s Packed Lunch, House of Games, The Graham Norton Show and was a team captain on Argumental.

Marcus was the host of I’ve Never Seen Star Wars on both radio and TV, a regular on panel shows from QI to Just a Minute, and has even cropped up on Question Time, Newsnight, and This Week. In The Joy of Techs he met his friend Alexis Conran’s enthusiasm for the latest gadgets with his own tech-scepticism.

BBC Radio 4 has become somewhat of a second home to Marcus with regular appearances on I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, The Now Show, and Just A Minute. He has written and recorded three series and four specials of his hit show Giles Wemmbley-Hogg Goes Off, and co-starred alongside Kerry Godliman, in three series of The Wilsons Save The World.

A fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, Marcus’ live performances sell out across the country. On the big screen he has appeared in Love Actually, Piccadilly Jim, Telstar: The Joe Meek Story, and Beyond the Sea. He played King Arthur in the hit Monty Python musical Spamalot. His book God Collar, based on his award-winning Edinburgh and West End show, focused on the 'God-shaped hole' that opened up in his life following the death of his best friend, and explored his issues surrounding faith.

He’s even appeared on a No.11 chart ‘hit’ with DJ Dee-Kline - a logical progression from his very brief early career as a podium dancer.
