BIOGRAPHY
The Hacienda is the world-famous Manchester nightclub that inspired a generation, defined a scene, and was the epicentre of fashion, indie and dance music.
The heart of both the Madchester scene and the explosion of dance music in the late '80s and early '90s, The Hacienda gave house music identity and soul, whilst also showcasing the best new bands including the Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, The Inspiral Carpets and more. The club was also a home for the band New Order and for a host of innovative UK and US DJs, as well as representing a monument to Tony Wilson's all-encompassing love of music and Manchester.
A decade after the doors were closed for the final time on one of Britain's great musical institutions, some of the key players from the rise and fall of the Hacienda take to the decks for a musical tribute of the highest order.
Peter Hook (New Order), Graham Park, Mike Pickering (DJ and M People), Sandy Rivera, Todd Terry, Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays) and Mani (Stone Roses and Primal Scream) are just some of the names included on the Hacienda celebration tour. Here some of the pioneers and leading lights of UK dance and indie return to the decks to pay homage to a place that inspired millions.
For those who experienced The Hacienda first-hand, this tour is a chance to say thanks for the memories. For those less fortunate (or too young), it represents an opportunity to experience the music by the people who rocked a city and a nation.
